4 Insurance Marketing Ideas for the Independent Agency

As the owner of an independent insurance agency, it is your responsibility to promote your agency. Sure, “word of mouth” and referrals are nice from your clientele, but it is important that you do not rely on these tactics. You must go ABOVE AND BEYOND this strategy to achieve great success. If you are not currently marketing your agency as well as you could be, have no fear.

I am here today with a few insurance marketing ideas that are tried and true.

#1: Start a YouTube Channel. This is a GREAT way to give clients and potential clients a taste of your agency and staff. Whether you record informational videos explaining policies or funny skits to promote your services, these videos are sure to be shared via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and more.

#2: Host a seminar. Whether you host a seminar to help locals save money on insurance or educate them on financial planning, this is a great way to extend knowledge and brand your agency as an expert agency. For example, our agency once held a seminar on how business owners can maintain low premiums on workers compensation. This educated owners on their experience Mod, how it is calculated and how it affects their premium.

#3: Publish multiple blogs. An onsite blog is a great start (which many of you are hopefully keeping up with!) but how about a secondary blog? This is especially helpful if you have a niche. For example, our agency has an onsite blog as well as livery, collision and movers and storage company blogs. These blogs promote our special insurance services and offer educational information and updates in their respected fields.

#4: Volunteer in your community. This is not only a great way to meet locals and spread the word about your agency, but it can help you build your reputation and brand. Hey – you can also write a press release about the experience for more business exposure! If you have not given these marketing techniques a try, now would be a good time to do so. If business is slow this summer, spend a little extra time and care on testing strategies. You will be glad you did – hard work will pay off!
