Protecting the Interests of Independent Agents & Brokers

Since 1962, the American Agents Alliance has tirelessly monitored the legislative and regulatory landscape impacting independent agents and brokers. We actively champion laws and regulations that support the interests of independent insurance agencies, while opposing any that pose threats to your business. In tandem with legislators, regulators, and industry committees, we vigilantly track and offer strategic counsel on a wide variety of legislation.

Political Action Committee

Three reasons to contribute to the Alliance Political Action Committee:

1. Let Your Voice Be Heard

There has never been a more challenging time for independent agents in recent history. Regulators have destabilized the California personal automobile and homeowners marketplace and caused insurance companies to make difficult business decisions that are crushing insurance agents and the consumers we serve. Your contribution funds the causes that create the political pressure necessary to fight back.

2. Protect Your Business and Your Legacy

Agency ownership is often a multi-generational enterprise. Your contribution not only helps protect the business you have built, but safeguards it for future generations.

3. Support Candidates Who Will Champion Your Cause

The Alliance Political Action Committee is a non-partisan, pro-business committee that supports the best viable candidate in any district who understands the unique needs of our industry and small business. Your contribution supports legislators who understand the issues important to your business and the independent agent and broker community.

Our History

The historical roots of the American Agents Alliance began at a small coffee shop in Southern California, when a group of innovative, forward thinking insurance professionals decided to pool together their resources and form a Yellow Pages advertising cooperative. The group listed themselves under the heading “AAACO.”

Later, this same group met to discuss how to fight proposed legislation that would have detrimental impact on their ability to write new business. During their successful fight against the bill, members of the group discovered that they had many other issues in common—issues that the other insurance associations were choosing to ignore. They realized that there was truly strength in numbers and that they could accomplish much more as a united front than as individuals. Thus, the Alliance was born.

Today, the American Agents Alliance has grown into a national insurance association headquartered in Sacramento, California. While the American Agents Alliance has continuously grown and adapted over the years, our dedication to advancing the interests of our members has remain unchanged.
