FILIPINO AMERICAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SAN MATEO COUNTY REPRESENTING WORKING MEN AND WOMEN IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA ENDORSES THE 2012 AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE DISCOUNT ACT
SACRAMENTO —The Filipino American Chamber of Commerce San Mateo County, announced today their endorsement of the 2012 Automobile Insurance Discount Act. The 2012 Automobile Insurance Discount Act will allow California consumers to participate in a discount that is already allowed in 48 other states.
The discount will give consumers, rather than insurance companies, control of their persistency discount, increase competition, lower prices and insure more Californians.
“Since its beginning, the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce San Mateo County has focused on building a stronger economy and a better business community for business owners and consumers. That’s why we support the 2012 Auto Insurance Discount Act,” said the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce San Mateo County President-Elect, Francis Espiritu.
“It is a good idea to give California consumers control of their loyalty discount.” “The 2012 Auto Insurance Discount Act is a great idea for our economy and consumers,” continued Espiritu. “Let’s insure every Californian. We urge others to join us in supporting the 2012 Automobile Insurance Discount Act.”
The initiative provides options for those who are presently insured and reaches out to those who do not have insurance: Military personnel receive the discount Individuals who have lost their job for a period of up to 18 months also qualify for the discount; as do those who lapse coverage for 90 days for any reason. Children living with their parent(s) will receive the same discount available to their parent(s). Consumers will get a discount for each year they were insured in the previous five years. For example, if you had four years of insurance you will get 80 percent of the discount. Unlike the present system, more people are protected.
The Filipino American Chamber of Commerce San Mateo County joins a growing list of supporters of the 2012 Automobile Insurance Discount Act that includes USAA (the military insurance), the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the American GI Forum of California, the California Republican Party and Democratic leaders Don Perata and Senator Juan Vargas.
