Insurance Commissioner Addresses Members of the Alliance

(Orig Post Date 7/17/2008) Sacramento, CA — Crowds of independent agents, brokers, and carrier representatives swelled at the Sheraton Hotel in Cerritos to meet and listen to California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner.

The event, “An Evening with Commissioner Poizner”, was hosted by the Alliance of Insurance Agents & Brokers and sponsored by Infinity Insurance Company.

With almost 500 people in attendance, the event was “standing room only”, making it one of the largest industry sponsored events of the year. Assemblyman Mike Duvall, introduced Insurance Commissioner Poizner who outlined three major priorities as Insurance Commissioner; protecting consumers, lowering the cost of insurance, and fighting fraud which costs California consumers a staggering $15 billion per year.

Commissioner Poizner also presented awards to Oscar Vega Jr, of Vega Insurance Agency for his outstanding production with the California Low Cost Auto Insurance Program and Ann Luce of Bristol West Insurance Group for her work in fighting insurance fraud.

David Nielson, CIC executive director of the Alliance of Insurance Agents & Brokers, said, “From the moment the evening began to the time they rolled up the carpet, the crowd was overwhelmingly enthusiastic. The show provided an invaluable opportunity to meet with members of our association, carrier representatives, and government officials.”
