Our History

The historical roots of the American Agents Alliance began at a small coffee shop in Southern California, when a group of innovative, forward thinking insurance professionals decided to pool together their resources and form a Yellow Pages advertising cooperative. The group listed themselves under the heading “AAACO.”

Later, this same group met to discuss how to fight proposed legislation that would have detrimental impact on their ability to write new business. During their successful fight against the bill, members of the group discovered that they had many other issues in common—issues that the other insurance associations were choosing to ignore. They realized that there was truly strength in numbers and that they could accomplish much more as a united front than as individuals. Thus, the Alliance was born.

Today, the American Agents Alliance has grown into a national insurance trade association headquartered in Sacramento, California. While the American Agents Alliance has continuously grown and adapted over the years, our dedication to advancing the interests of our members has remain unchanged. In addition to political advocacy, members have access to our members-only E&O program, access to high quality preferred personal lines markets, an industry-leading advocacy and government affairs program to protect your livelihood, continuing education and mentoring, the largest property & casualty insurance convention on the west coast, and a variety of discounted products and services available through our affinity partners. As the marketplace continues to evolve, we continue to provide our members with the products and services they need to serve their clients and thrive.

The American Agents Alliance, a member-driven organization since 1962, empowers independent insurance agents and brokers to thrive through advocacy, education and networking.

The American Agents Alliance is a national insurance association for independent insurance agents; we are dedicated to serving the professional needs of independent insurance agents and brokers. We provide insurance agents and brokers a wealth of resources ranging from a members-only E&O insurance program, access to high-quality preferred personal lines markets, an industry-leading advocacy and government affairs program to protect producers’ livelihoods, low cost and high quality continuing education courses, industry forms and manuals, local meetings, the largest insurance convention in the west, and many more discounted products and services available through our affinity programs. As the marketplace changes, we will continue to develop high quality products and services to serve the needs of independent agents and brokers throughout the country.
