The American Agents Alliance began with a simple idea: independent insurance professionals could accomplish more together than they ever could alone.

Our roots trace back to a small coffee shop in Southern California, where a group of forward-thinking insurance professionals came together to pool their resources and create a Yellow Pages advertising cooperative. They listed themselves under the heading “AAACO,” a practical solution that gave independent agents greater visibility in a competitive marketplace.

What began as a cooperative soon became something more. When proposed legislation threatened their ability to write new business, the same group joined forces again, this time to protect their agencies, their clients, and their future. Their successful effort to defeat the bill revealed a larger truth: independent agents shared common challenges that were not being fully addressed elsewhere.

They recognized the power of a united voice. By standing together, they could advocate more effectively, solve shared problems, and create new opportunities for independent agents and brokers. From that purpose, the Alliance was born.

Today, the American Agents Alliance is a national insurance trade association headquartered in Sacramento, California. While the Alliance has grown and evolved over the years, our mission remains rooted in the same spirit that brought those agents together decades ago: protecting, supporting, and advancing the interests of independent insurance professionals.

Members now have access to a wide range of resources designed to help them compete and grow, including political advocacy, a members-only E&O program, access to preferred personal lines markets, continuing education, mentoring, exclusive affinity partner discounts, and the largest property and casualty insurance convention on the West Coast.

As the insurance marketplace continues to change, the American Agents Alliance remains committed to giving independent agents and brokers the representation, resources, and support they need to protect their livelihood, serve their clients, and thrive.
