VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS—WORKING WITH CALIFORNIA’S ALMOST 2 MILLION VETERANS— ENDORSES THE 2012 AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE DISCOUNT ACT

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of California announced today their endorsement of the 2012 Automobile Insurance Discount Act. The discount act takes the loyalty discount away from the insurance companies and gives it to the consumer – allowing the consumer to shop for a better deal.

“California’s veteran population is increasing by 35,000 per year. It is well known that our veterans in California endure economic hardships during their transition to civilian life. We believe this discount is good for business, but more importantly, to the veterans of our state. It is simply the right thing to do and will have a positive impact on veterans, active military personnel, and their dependents,” stated Bobby Price, State Commander.

“This initiative will give veterans and military personnel control over their automobile insurance discount and will create more competition and lower prices. We encourage veterans and the people of California to support it,” continued Price. There have been significant improvements to make the initiative more inclusive with the presently insured and reach out to those who do not have insurance: Military personnel will receive the discount Veterans transitioning to civilian life and in search of jobs will qualify Dependents living with their parents will receive the same discount available to their parents Consumers will get a discount for each year they were insured in the previous five years, for example, if you have four years of insurance, you will get 80% of the discount. Unlike the present system, more people are protected.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars in the State of California (VFW) has a membership in the hundreds of thousands, and is one of the premiere and largest veteran organizations in the United States. The VFW joins a growing list of supporters of the 2012 Automobile Insurance Discount Act that includes the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, USAA (Military Insurance), the American G.I. Forum of California, California Republican Party, Democratic Leaders, Don Perata and Senator Juan Vargas.
