Help End the Insurance Crisis

California is facing a homeowners insurance crisis that can no longer be ignored. Seven months after the close of the last legislative session, Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara is only now signaling a more serious approach toward creating a regulatory solution. While these conversations are finally moving forward, the lack of urgency has allowed the crisis to deepen — leaving homeowners with limited options and agents struggling to serve their clients effectively.

Two critical issues that were central to last year’s failed legislative effort remain unresolved:

These reforms are essential to restoring insurer confidence in California’s market. Without them, insurers cannot accurately price risk or operate sustainably in the face of wildfire and other catastrophic events.

Agents and brokers see the consequences of inaction every day: non-renewals, skyrocketing premiums, and shrinking market options. Regulatory inaction is simply not an option. Swift, decisive change is needed to stabilize the market and restore access to affordable coverage for California consumers.

That’s why we’re calling on all insurance professionals to take action today and help end the insurance crisis. Let Commissioner Lara and state lawmakers know that we need regulatory reform — not tomorrow, not next year, but now. Your voice matters, and together we can make a difference.
